Schild & Vriend

'Schild en Vriend' is an old Flemish battlecry, used in the rebellion of the city of Brugge against the French, May 18, 1302. Legend tells that it was used to differentiate between the French-speaking (who could not pronounce 'schild') and Flemish-speaking citizens. Nowadays, historians tell us that it was probably 'Des Gilden Vriend'.

Schedule of upcoming games

Due to various reasons Schild & Vriend has gone somewhat underground. First their was the relocation of various members to such bizarre places as Cornell University (US of A) or Mechelen. On top of that our weekly gathering place fell into the wrong hands and on a more possitive note, we've got to know a whole bunch of friendly Eurocrats from Brussels who were in a desperate need for some wargaming. In other words Schild & Vriend has become part of a hodgepodge international fellowship which calles itself "The International Brigade". We regulary meet for a game in various basements and atticks untill we find a good permanent gamingroom in the Brussels area. In the mean time we've set up a mailinglist to keep ourselves informed. For those of you who are intrested, you can always mail us for more information.
